From different corners of the world, our story began in late 2018. Bart, born and raised in Haarlem, met Carol, who grew up between Peru and Canada, but was in Amsterdam for her Masters! What started as a simple meeting slowly turned into something neither of us expected, but both of us are forever grateful for.

When we started dating officially, we didn’t know that together, the experiences we would have would shape our lives in more ways than we could have imagined. In the beginning, language was sometimes a challenge, with Dutch on one side and Spanish and English on the other, but we learned each other’s languages, cultures, traditions, and jokes along the way.

We truly grew into adulthood together. First jobs, first apartment, first big life decisions, and learning what it means to support someone unconditionally. We bring out the best in each other and help each other through the difficult moments, always as a team.

After six wonderful years together, in August 2025, Bart proposed at the beautiful Lindos Acropolis in Rhodes during a warm, actually very hot! (if you know, you know) afternoon. It was the easiest and sweatiest “yes” ever.

Now we are getting married in July 2027, and we look forward to a lifetime of adventures, laughter, support, love, and growing old together, just like we have been doing since our early twenties baby!
