In the beginning,\n    language was sometimes a challenge, with Dutch on one side and Spanish\n    and English on the other, but we learned each other\u2019s languages,\n    cultures, traditions, and jokes along the way.\n  <\/div>\n\n  <div class=\"timeline\">\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">2019<\/span> \u2013 We started our relationship and began writing our story together. Carol graduated from the Vrije Universiteit with her Masters!\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">2020\u20132021<\/span> \u2013 We lived together through a global pandemic, learning that we actually liked spending every single day alongside each other! Travelled together to Canada during the pandemic to visit Carol&#8217;s parents, after she secured her first big corporate job in Utrecht!\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">2022<\/span> \u2013 Bart graduated from his Bachelors and started his Masters at the VU as well! Went to Disneyland Paris, and we both fell in love with Edinburgh, Bart a little bit more with whiskey (if you know, you know!). We also did a USA west coast roadtrip and more with Carol&#8217;s parents, best trip ever!\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">2023\u20132024<\/span> \u2013 We visited Peru after long years for Carol and first time for Bart! We also went to Singapore for our dearest friend&#8217;s wedding, Bali and Canada! It was a year of a lot of travel to meet with loved ones. Bart graduated from his Masters and started his big corporate job!\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">2025\u20132026<\/span> \u2013 Bart proposed to Carol in 2025 and she said yes! The rest of 2026 we spent planning the wedding and visiting Canada and Peru to meet with Carol&#8217;s family.\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n      <span class=\"year\">Always<\/span> \u2013 Through sickness, stress, successes, and life\u2019s ups and downs, we were and will be always there for each other.\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <div class=\"story-block\">\n    We truly grew into adulthood together. First jobs, first apartment,\n    first big life decisions, and learning what it means to support someone\n    unconditionally. We bring out the best in each other and help each other\n    through the difficult moments, always as a team.\n  <\/div>\n\n  <div class=\"story-block\">\n    After six wonderful years together, in August 2025, Bart proposed at the\n    beautiful Lindos Acropolis in Rhodes during a warm, actually very hot! (if you know, you know) afternoon.
